EXPERIENCE
Upon overcoming many obstacles in my own life, I went straight in to the Marine Corps serving five years active duty, completing 3 deployments and got out as a sergeant. As an NCO (non-commissioned officer), I was in charge of mentoring all of my junior Marines. Upon finishing my five years I went straight into college. Initially I completed my fist year at Umass Dartmouth majoring in Criminal justice with a minor in sociology, but switched my major to sociology and minored in criminology. I made this change because I wanted to help people, not incarcerate them. After completing my first year at Umass Dartmouth I transferred to Framingham State University where I completed my degree in August of 2018. I spent my undergraduate internship working at Call2Talk where I served as a trained call taker for a mental health hotline serving a diverse population across the life span including adolescents, adults, and veterans. I spoke with callers dealing with mental health concerns, grieving, substance use, family issues, and relational issues including break ups.
I completed my master’s degree at William James College where I majored in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2020. I worked at Wayside Youth and Family for two years in the day center, a full/partial hospitalization setting. I provided individual and group counseling. I worked with clients who presented with multiple diagnoses anxiety disorders, including panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and phobias; Depression, bipolar disorder, and other mood disorders; Eating disorders, Personality Disorders, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, and Psychotic disorders. I facilitated an all-male trauma group for 2 years and two expressive art groups for one year, and covered for various groups including CBT, DBT, self-care, mediation, and family relations. I administered a variety of assessments including new patient intakes, 24-risk assessments, CANS, and child Comprehensive assessments. I also provided Crisis intervention with elevated adolescents. I then transitioned to in-home therapy working at Kaleidoscope Family Solutions for one year where I provided individual and family counseling in an In-Home setting for adolescents and their families.
I utilize different counseling modalities including, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Expressive Art’s Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.
